Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS): From Lisbon Airport (Aeroporto Humberto Delgado) you can reach Pontinha using Lisboa’s Metro network. Take the Red Line from Aeroporto to Alameda or São Sebastião and transfer to the Blue Line toward Pontinha; total journey time is roughly 30-45 minutes depending on transfers. A single metro trip on the Viva Viagem card within the city is typically around €1.50-€2.00.
(No other major airports): For regional flights you may also see low-cost carriers into nearby secondary airports; onward travel to Pontinha will still usually use Lisbon Metro or suburban buses.
Train: Pontinha is served directly by the Lisbon Metro (Pontinha station on the Blue Line). For rail services into Lisbon use CP (Portuguese Railways) to Entrecampos, Rossio or Santa Apolónia then transfer onto the Metro - metro rides to Pontinha typically take 20-40 minutes from central stations and cost about €1.50-€2.00 with a reusable Viva Viagem card.
Bus: Carris and municipal buses serve Odivelas and Pontinha from central Lisbon and surrounding suburbs. Single bus fares paid with Viva Viagem are in the same general range as the metro (around €1.50-€2.00); journey times depend on traffic but expect 20-50 minutes from central Lisbon.
How to Get Around Pontinha (Odivelas)#
Use the Metro as your baseline - it’s frequent, fast and cheap for reaching Pontinha from the airport and central Lisbon. Buses cover gaps and taxis/ride-hail work well for nights, groups or heavy luggage.
- Lisbon Metro (Blue Line) (€1.50-€2.00) - Pontinha station is on the Blue Line and is the most convenient public-transport link for the neighbourhood. Trains run frequently (every few minutes during the day) and are the fastest way to reach central Lisbon when compared with surface buses during peak traffic. Buy a reusable Viva Viagem card for cheaper single trips and easy transfers.
- Carris & Suburban Buses (€1.50-€2.00) - Local Carris buses and suburban operators link Pontinha with Odivelas, Amadora and central Lisbon. Buses are cheaper than taxis but can be slower in rush hour; they’re useful for destinations not directly on the Metro. Use Viva Viagem to pay the standard single-fare rate.
- CP Suburban Trains (€1.50-€4.00) - Portugal’s CP suburban trains connect greater Lisbon to central stations such as Entrecampos and Rossio; from there a short Metro transfer gets you to Pontinha. Trains are best for some suburban routes but you will usually combine rail with the Metro to complete the journey.
- Taxi / Ride-hail (Uber, Bolt) (€15-€25) - Taxis and ride-hail apps are quick and door-to-door - useful at night or with luggage. Expect fares from Lisbon airport to Pontinha of roughly €15-€25 depending on time of day and traffic.
- Walking - Pontinha is fairly walkable for short local trips (shops, cafes, stations), but distances to central Lisbon are too large to walk routinely. Use walking for last-mile connections once you’re in the neighbourhood.
