Plaza de España in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is in the city centre near the port and the main bus interchange (Intercambiador). It’s a short walk from the city’s central bus station and from the harbour area. From Tenerife North (Los Rodeos) airport it’s a roughly 15-20 minute drive into central Santa Cruz.

• Visit early morning or late afternoon for softer light on the lake and fewer crowds - midday is busiest, especially at weekends.
• Approach the square from the seafront promenade to get the best photographic angles and to avoid the denser pedestrian traffic coming from the city center.
• Combine a stop here with a short walk to the nearby Auditorio de Tenerife (Calatrava) and Parque García Sanabria to make a single, low-walking loop of major nearby sights rather than returning to the plaza during peak hours.
