Place Stanislas

Place Stanislas is an 18th-century monumental square in Nancy, France, created under Duke Stanislas Leszczyński and designed by Emmanuel Héré as a unified civic ensemble. The square is a UNESCO World Heritage site noted for its coherent classical architecture and decorative ironwork.

Visitors typically view the open rectangular plaza framed by uniform façades, the gilded wrought-iron gates and lamps by Jean Lamour, and the civic buildings that enclose the space. The square functions as a focal point for the city’s public events and is widely photographed for its formal symmetry and ornamentation.
