Place d’Alliance is an 18th-century urban square in Nancy, Grand Est, and forms part of the larger Baroque urban arrangement around Place Stanislas. The square is one element of a planned civic ensemble from the mid-1700s.

The square is framed by classical façades and connects visually and spatially with Place Stanislas and Place de la Carrière, contributing to the city’s unified 18th-century townscape.

The square was created in the mid-18th century during the urban programme led by Duke Stanisław Leszczyński and implemented by architects such as Emmanuel Héré. It has retained its role as part of Nancy’s historic civic layout.

It is located in the historic centre of Nancy in the Grand Est region of northeastern France.

• UNESCO ensemble: Part of the 18th-century urban ensemble in Nancy that includes Place Stanislas and Place de la Carrière, protected as a World Heritage site.

Place d’Alliance is in central Nancy (Grand Est), close to the city’s main historic squares. The simplest approach is to arrive by train at Nancy-Ville station and walk into the centre-most landmarks including Place d’Alliance are about a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Local STAN buses also serve stops in the city centre.

• See Place d'Alliance together with Place Stanislas and Place de la Carrière - the three form Nancy's UNESCO-designed urban ensemble and are best appreciated on a single walking loop.
• Visit in the early evening when the squares and their façades are illuminated; Place d'Alliance is much quieter than nearby Place Stanislas, so evening light gives a better sense of its scale and architecture.
• Notice the axial planning and arcades linking the squares - many visitors concentrate on the more famous Stanislas and miss the continuity of façades and perspectives that define Place d'Alliance.
