Phewa Lake is a freshwater lake in the Pokhara valley in Gandaki Pradesh and a central recreational and scenic focal point for the city of Pokhara. The lake is frequented for boating, lakeside promenades and views of the nearby Himalayan foothills.
A small island near the lake centre contains the two-storey Tal Barahi Temple, which visitors commonly reach by hired boat; the lakeside area contains piers, cafes and guesthouses. The lake is used for short day trips, sunrise and sunset photography, and as a base for excursions into the Annapurna region.
The lake is set against the backdrop of mountain faces such as Machapuchare and other Annapurna foothills, which are visible from the lakeshore on clear days. Local tourism infrastructure supports boating, lakeside dining and short guided walks around the shoreline.
