A small inhabited island in the Riau Islands province of Indonesia, close to the city of Tanjung Pinang. It is noted for its historical buildings and its role in the local Malay sultanate history.
The island contains a notable mosque and a group of royal tombs and grave sites linked to the former rulers of the Riau-Lingga sultanate, which attract cultural and heritage visits. The settlement area is compact and largely pedestrian, with narrow paths between historic structures.

Many of the island’s notable structures date from that era and reflect Malay-Islamic architectural traditions.
