Pench Tiger Reserve

Pench Tiger Reserve is a protected area in Madhya Pradesh, central India, that conserves dry deciduous forest and riverine habitat around the Pench River. The reserve is recognised for its tiger population and rich wildlife assemblage.

Tourism in the reserve is focused on guided jeep safaris and walking trails that target sightings of tigers, leopards, deer and a variety of bird species. The mosaic of open meadows, ridges and river valleys creates multiple wildlife viewing habitats and photographic opportunities.

The forest around the Pench River has long been subject to traditional village uses and forestry; in the modern conservation era the area was set aside and managed to protect habitat for tigers and other fauna.
