How to Get to Pemagatsel
Pemagatshel (Pemagatsel) is in eastern Bhutan and is reached almost exclusively by road. International visitors normally fly into Paro (PBH) and then take domestic flights (where available) to Yonphula or travel overland; expect long drives on mountain roads for the final leg.
Paro International Airport (PBH): Paro is Bhutan’s main international airport; arrival here requires an overland transfer to eastern districts which can take many hours (often a full day or more) depending on route.
Yonphula Airport (YON) / Yongphula: For Pemagatshel District the nearest domestic airport is Yonphula (YON) near Trashigang area. Domestic flights to Yonphula are seasonal and limited; from Yonphula you continue by road to Pemagatshel (see below).
Train: Bhutan has no railway network.
Bus / Road: Road travel is the only practical inter‑district option. From Yonphula or other eastern towns you use scheduled district buses or shared jeeps/taxis to reach Pemagatshel; road journeys in eastern Bhutan can take several hours because of mountain roads and limited services.

Pemagatsel is a small Bhutanese district town where most travel is on foot within the settlement. Public buses and minibuses serve limited routes; many visitors and locals hire drivers or use shared vehicles for inter-district travel.
