Pellene Archaeological Site

Pellene was an ancient Greek city-state (polis) in the region of Achaea on the northern Peloponnese. It is known from classical sources as one of the Achaean cities.

Interest in Pellene is archaeological and historical; the site and its remains are relevant to students of ancient Greek urban settlements and the classical period. Remaining traces at the ancient location are typically studied rather than presented as a large visitor attraction.

Pellene was inhabited in antiquity and participated in the political structures of classical Greece, including regional leagues and alliances. Like many Greek poleis it continued through Hellenistic and Roman periods with changing fortunes over time.
