Peggy Guggenheim Collection

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is a modern art museum housed in the riverside Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal in Venice and contains the personal collection of collector Peggy Guggenheim.

Peggy Guggenheim established her collection and lived at the palazzo in the mid-20th century; upon her death the collection was placed under the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation and the site has been preserved as a public museum. The palazzo itself is an unfinished 18th-century building adapted to display the collection.

The museum sits in Venice’s Dorsoduro district directly on the Grand Canal, close to the Accademia Bridge and the Gallerie dell’Accademia. It is within the historic center of Venice and served by vaporetto stops on the canal.
