How to Get to Parramatta
Parramatta is a major transport hub in Greater Sydney; the fastest way to arrive is by rail to Parramatta Station from Sydney CBD or the airport. Once there, the town centre and many attractions are compact and well-served by trains and buses.
Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD): Sydney’s main international airport. Take the Airport Link (train) to Central station (about 13 minutes from Domestic) then change to the T1 Western Line to Parramatta - total journey typically 40-55 minutes depending on connections. Expect an Opal fare in the single-digit AUD range (with an access fee for Airport Link if using the dedicated stations).
Bankstown / Newcastle / Regional airports: There are smaller regional airports (Bankstown, Newcastle) but these require longer transfers by car or bus to Parramatta (1-2+ hours) and are less convenient for international arrivals.
Train: Parramatta Station is a major interchange on Sydney Trains (T1 Western Line and other services) and NSW TrainLink. It’s about 20-30 minutes from Sydney Central on suburban services; trains are frequent during the day.
