The Parâng Mountains group is a mountain massif in Romania’s Southern Carpathians, known for steep ridges, glaciated basins and alpine meadows. The range contains high peaks, rocky summits and mountain pastures that are popular with hikers and mountaineers.
The highest summit in the group is Parângu Mare, which rises to 2,519 metres and forms the central high ridge of the massif. Trails, mountain huts and passes provide access for summer trekking and winter mountaineering in suitable conditions.
The group lies in southwestern Romania within the Southern Carpathians and is accessible from nearby towns and mountain roads that serve the region’s tourism and pastoral activities.
