How to Get to Paraguarí
Paraguarí is reached mainly via Asunción's Silvio Pettirossi Airport (ASU) followed by a road transfer. Paraguay has minimal passenger rail service, so intercity buses from Asunción are the standard public-transport link to Paraguarí.
Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, Asunción (ASU): The main international airport for Paraguay and the best arrival point for Paraguarí. From ASU you can take a taxi directly to Asunción city centre (20-30 min, ~40,000-70,000 PYG) and then a long-distance bus to Paraguarí from Asunción’s main bus terminals; total ASU→Paraguarí travel time including transfer is typically 1-1.5 hours by road.
Luque / domestic air options: Paraguay has limited domestic air service; most international arrivals use ASU. If you arrive via small regional flights they still land at Silvio Pettirossi or private fields and you’ll need ground transport to reach Paraguarí.
Train: Paraguay has essentially no regular national passenger rail service for conventional travel to Paraguarí; trains are not a practical option.
Bus: Long-distance buses are the main public transport. Buses depart from Asunción’s principal bus stations toward Paraguarí and other departmental towns; journey time is about 45-75 minutes depending on service and traffic. Fares are modest - typically in the low tens of thousands of PYG (often under 20,000 PYG) - and tickets are bought at the terminal or on board for some routes.
