Palace of Khudáyár Khán

The Palace of Khudáyár Khán is a 19th-century royal residence in the city of Kokand, Fergana Region, Uzbekistan, built for Khudayar Khan of the Kokand Khanate. It is one of the region’s principal historical palaces representing the court architecture of the Kokand rulers.

The complex is organized around a sequence of courtyards and reception halls that display traditional Central Asian court planning. Interiors are noted for detailed finish work in wood and painted decoration and for compact ceremonial spaces rather than grand columned halls. Visitor interest centers on the palace’s surviving decorated rooms and the ensemble of exterior walls and gateways.

Erected in the 19th century as the residence and administrative centre of Khudayar Khan, the building functioned as the local seat of power for the Kokand rulers. It changed function after the incorporation of the Kokand Khanate into the expanding Russian imperial presence in Central Asia and has since been subject to restoration to preserve its decorative interiors.
