How to Get to Paine

Paine is most easily reached by road from Santiago's airport (SCL) or central bus terminals. There is no regular passenger rail service; buses and private cars are the practical options for arriving and getting around.

By Air

Comodoro Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport (SCL): Santiago’s main international airport (SCL) is the closest major airport for Paine. From SCL you can reach Paine by car in about 40-60 minutes depending on traffic (roughly 45-60 km). Airport taxis and private transfers to Paine commonly cost around CLP 30,000-50,000; shared airport buses to central Santiago cost about CLP 1,700 and from there you can catch intercity buses to Paine.

(No commercial airport in Paine): Paine itself does not have scheduled commercial flights; road connections from Santiago are the usual route.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no passenger rail service that connects Santiago to Paine for regular commuter travel.

Bus: Intercity buses depart Santiago for Paine from various bus terminals and from stops along major routes; local buses (microbuses and regional buses) from Santiago’s southern bus terminals reach Paine in about 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic.
