Osman Sagar is a reservoir and lake on the Musi River on the western edge of Hyderabad in Telangana, India, created in the early 20th century under the rule of the Nizam. It is commonly known locally as Gandipet.
The lake has been used historically as a water supply and flood-control reservoir for Hyderabad and today is a popular local destination for picnics, birdwatching and short outings along its shore. Vegetation and shoreline paths make it a recreational green space near the city.
The reservoir was formed by a masonry earthen dam constructed during the Nizam era following major floods in Hyderabad, with the objective of regulating the Musi River and securing a municipal water source.
Osman Sagar lies on the western outskirts of Hyderabad and is reachable by road from the city; it forms a green buffer between urban areas and the surrounding rural landscape.

From central Hyderabad, take the ORR or Nagarjuna Sagar Road toward Gandipet; Osman Sagar is roughly a 30-45 minute drive from Banjara Hills depending on traffic. Local buses and shared autos run toward Gandipet from Secunderabad and other hubs.
