Orapa City
Mining town in Botswana with diamond resources
Built around one of the world's largest diamond mines, Orapa feels like a modern company town on the Kalahari edge. Safaris to nearby pans, night skies for stargazing and village markets give visitors a contrast between industry and desert ecology.
Why Visit Orapa?#
Orapa is best known for its vast diamond mine and the town’s role in Botswana’s modern economy, creating an unusual industrial frontier to explore. Beyond the mine, Kalahari dunes and open plains offer wide horizons, excellent stargazing and opportunities to learn about local cattle‑herding traditions. Visitors seeking contrasts between industrial history and quiet desert scenery find Orapa unexpectedly compelling.
