Oliwa Cathedral

Oliwa Cathedral is the principal church of the Oliwa district of Gdańsk in northern Poland, originally established as part of a medieval Cistercian abbey. The building is known for its baroque interior decorations and a prominent historic pipe organ.

The cathedral’s interior features carved altars, frescoes and ornate baroque detailing; the organ is a major draw and is used for regular concerts and recitals that attract both locals and visitors.

The church complex began as a Cistercian monastery in the medieval period and was expanded and redecorated in later centuries, particularly during baroque renovations. Over time the complex developed into an important religious and cultural site in the region.

The cathedral stands in the Oliwa quarter of Gdańsk, close to Oliwa Park and within the city’s northern districts, and is accessible from central Gdańsk by public transport.
