Old Faithful

Old Faithful is a geyser located in Yellowstone National Park, famed for its regular, recurring eruptions and long history of observation. It is one of the park’s most recognized thermal features and a primary draw for visitors.

Eruptions recur at short, relatively predictable intervals and produce columns of water and steam that commonly reach tens of metres in height; typical intervals fall roughly between 44 and 125 minutes. The geyser sits within the Upper Geyser Basin, an area with a very high concentration of geysers and hot springs.

Park infrastructure includes boardwalks, viewing areas, and an adjacent visitor center that provides eruption predictions and interpretive information. The geyser and basin are monitored for changes in activity as part of Yellowstone’s geothermal management and scientific study.

Old Faithful is located in northwest Wyoming within Yellowstone National Park, in the Upper Geyser Basin roughly midway between the park’s main entrances and a short drive from Mammoth Hot Springs and other major park features.
