Ntangki National Park National Park

Ntangki National Park is a protected area in the state of Nagaland in northeastern India that conserves tropical forest habitats and local wildlife. It is one of Nagaland’s designated national parks and functions primarily as a conservation area.

The park contains forested hills, river valleys and wildlife habitats; visitor facilities are minimal and travel within the park is generally by road to designated entry points and with local guidance. Activities are typically limited to wildlife observation and guided walks.

The area was set aside for conservation to protect forest habitats and native species, and its management has involved state forestry and conservation authorities. Over time it has been subject to conservation planning within the state.

Geographically the park lies in central Nagaland; it is inland from the state’s main urban centres and accessed via regional roads from nearby towns.

• Protection status: The park protects remaining tracts of tropical forest in Nagaland and is one of the state’s designated protected areas with limited visitor infrastructure.

Ntangki lies in Peren and Wokha districts; the nearest sizable town with regular services is Dimapur (about 60-100 km depending on entry point). From Dimapur, travelers generally hire a private taxi or take local buses toward Peren or Jalukie and arrange village-to-park transport from there. Roads are rough and sections become impassable in heavy rain; a high-clearance vehicle and local guide are recommended.

• Visit during the dry season (Nov-Apr) to avoid flooded trails and leeches.
• Ask permission and directions at local government or forest office in Dimapur-many trails cross community land.
