How to Get to Nong Khiaw#
Nong Khiaw is a riverside village on the Nam Ou river north of Luang Prabang. Most travellers arrive by minivan/bus from Luang Prabang (3-4 hours) or by longboat on the Nam Ou for a scenic river approach. Local tourism infrastructure is small but well set up for visitors.
Luang Prabang International Airport (LPQ): Luang Prabang is the closest major airport for most visitors heading to Nong Khiaw. From Luang Prabang the road journey to Nong Khiaw is typically 3-4 hours by minivan or bus; expect fares around 80,000-150,000 LAK (roughly USD 8-15) depending on vehicle and operator.
Other gateways: Vientiane is a longer overland option; domestic flights into Luang Prabang are the common route for international travellers.
Train: Laos has no conventional passenger rail to Nong Khiaw.
