The bridge sits near Demodara station in Uva Province, close to the town of Ella on Sri Lanka’s central highland railway line and is reachable by train or a short walk from nearby stations.

How to Get to Nine Arches Bridge, Demodara #
From Ella town centre: the bridge is approximately 1.5-2 km (20-30 minutes on foot downhill). Follow the signs toward Demodara; most visitors walk along the tea-terraced lanes toward the viaduct and then take a short path down to the viewing area. Trains serving the Kandy-Badulla line stop at Ella and Demodara stations; the Demodara station is a short walk from the bridge. If driving, negotiate a drop-off on the road above the bridge and walk down to the viewpoint; parking is limited.

- Arrive at least 30-45 minutes before the scheduled Colombo-Badulla train for the classic photo of the train crossing the bridge; the 9:30-11:00am window often has the best light.
- Approach from Ella town (about a 2 km, mostly downhill walk) rather than driving straight to the bridge - the walk passes several vantage points and tea plantations few buses stop for.
- Stand on the wooden viewing platform on the eastern side rather than the road for safer photos; avoid stepping onto the tracks.
