Niger has 2 airports with scheduled commercial service, and most international travelers arrive via Diori Hamani International Airport (NIM). It is the country’s primary gateway and the only international airport, as well as the major airport handling high volumes of traffic. NIM serves Niamey, the dusty Niger River capital and administrative hub, with sights including Musée National Boubou Hama and the Grand Mosque of Niamey.
Outside the capital, scheduled domestic service is centered on Zinder Airport (ZND), which provides air access to Zinder, a historic regional center with a sultan’s quarter and lively markets in the south. With only one domestic airport offering scheduled commercial flights, domestic flying is limited compared with the range of destinations described across Niger, from the Historic Centre of Agadez and the Aïr & Ténéré to southern trade towns such as Maradi and border crossings like Gaya and Birni-N’Konni.
