How to Get to Nezu Shrine #
Nezu Shrine (Nezu Jinja) is in Bunkyo, Tokyo, a very short walk from Nezu Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line (about 1-2 minutes from the station exit). It is also within walking distance (roughly 15-20 minutes) from Ueno Station (JR lines and Tokyo Metro), so you can reach the shrine easily by taking the Chiyoda Line or any JR line to Ueno and walking south/west toward the shrine.
Tips for Visiting Nezu Shrine #
- Arrive early in the morning to enjoy the shrine's torii-lined approaches and inner gardens before the Azalea Festival crowds build; mornings also offer the calmest conditions for photos.
- Use Nezu Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line (a short walk) as your primary access point to save time; the shrine is compact, so plan to combine it with a short walk around nearby Yanaka or Nezu neighborhoods.
- If you can, visit during the Tsutsuji Matsuri (azalea season, typically late April-early May) on a weekday - the blooms are the draw, but weekends get very busy and congested.
