The museum is in the Cultural Education Center at Empire State Plaza, across from the New York State Capitol in downtown Albany. From Albany-Rensselaer Amtrak station, take a short taxi or rideshare (roughly 10-15 minutes) or use Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) buses that stop at the Plaza; the walk from the downtown area is 5-15 minutes depending on starting point.

• Enter from the Empire State Plaza concourse to avoid the Plaza crowds and to find the coat-check and elevators more quickly.
• Head straight to the Native Peoples of New York gallery early in the day - school visits often converge on this room by late morning.
