Museum Museum of ancient Egyptian and classical antiquities

The Neues Museum is a 19th-century museum on Berlin’s Museum Island that houses the Egyptian Museum and collections of prehistory and early history; it was originally constructed between 1843 and 1855. After wartime damage it remained partly ruined for decades and was fully restored and reopened in 2009 following a major conservation project.
Key exhibits include a substantial Egyptian collection and the famous painted bust of Nefertiti, along with prehistoric and early historic artifacts from across Europe and the Near East. The museum combines restored historic interiors with contemporary conservation and display techniques to present ancient artifacts.
