How to Get to Nerja
Nerja is most conveniently reached via Málaga Airport (AGP) followed by a direct ALSA bus or a taxi. There is no rail station in Nerja, so buses or cars handle the final leg.
Málaga-Costa del Sol (AGP): The nearest international airport. From AGP take a bus (ALSA) to Nerja from Málaga bus station (Málaga María Zambrano) - the bus journey takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes; fares are typically €4-€7. A taxi from Málaga airport to Nerja takes about 45-60 minutes and costs roughly €60-€90.
Granada (GRX): Granada Airport is another option, further east; travel to Nerja by road is longer (about 1.5-2 hours) and usually done by car or private transfer.
Train: There is no direct rail service to Nerja; the nearest major rail hub is Málaga María Zambrano station. From Málaga take an ALSA bus or a coach to Nerja (see above).
Bus: ALSA operates regular buses from Málaga to Nerja (and from Málaga airport with a short transfer to the bus station). Travel time is about 1h15-1h30 and fares are commonly €4-€7 one way. Local buses and taxis provide onward connections within the area.
How to Get Around Nerja #
Nerja’s town centre and Balcón de Europa are very walkable; most visitors stroll between beaches, shops and restaurants. Local bus services connect Nerja with Málaga, Torrox and surrounding villages. Taxis are easy to find in town, and ALSA coaches run regional routes to Málaga and other towns. Renting a car is handy for exploring nearby beaches and scenic roads.
