Nan Wan Hu - Nam Van lake
Lake Urban reservoir and waterfront area in Macau
Nam Van Lake’s waterfront in Macau offers promenades, boat rides and skyline views, with colonial streets and casino district nearby.
Nan Wan Hu, commonly known as Nam Van Lake, is an artificial lake on the Macau Peninsula adjacent to the Inner and Outer Harbour. It was created as part of land reclamation and waterfront reshaping on the peninsula.
The lake area features paved promenades, hotel and government buildings along its edges, and small-scale recreational boating and water-sport activities at designated facilities. Sightlines across the water offer views of the Macau skyline and nearby landmarks on the peninsula.
The lake was formed during late 20th-century reclamation and urban development on the Macau Peninsula to expand waterfront space for civic, commercial and recreational uses. Its shoreline has been integrated into the city’s pedestrian and event spaces.
Geographically it lies on the southern side of the Macau Peninsula in Macau SAR, immediately inland from the sea, within walking distance of Macau’s central historic and commercial districts.
- Artificial lake: Formed through land reclamation on the Macau peninsula, it is an artificial waterfront area with promenades and recreational boating rather than a natural lake.
