Nameri National Park

Nameri National Park is a protected lowland and foothill reserve in Assam, northeast India known for its riverine forest and wildlife. The park is an important local conservation area at the interface of plains and the eastern Himalayan foothills.

Trail and river-based wildlife viewing are common attractions; the Jia Bhoroli River crosses the park and provides boat and rafting access at controlled points. The area is valued for birdwatching and for habitat that supports large mammals and other native species.

The protected area was created to conserve local forest and riverine ecosystems and to support sustainable wildlife management and tourism. Management has focused on combining habitat protection with regulated visitor activities.

The park sits in Sonitpur district of Assam near the border with Arunachal Pradesh, in the foothills north of the Brahmaputra valley and accessible from nearby towns such as Tezpur.

• River activities: The Jia Bhoroli River runs through the protected area and is used for guided low-grade rafting and wildlife viewing.
• Wildlife and birding: The park lies at the southern edge of the eastern Himalayan foothills and is noted for birdwatching and sightings of large mammals such as Asian elephants and tiger habitat.
