Nakagusuku Castle is a Ryukyuan gusuku (castle) ruin on Okinawa Island in Nakagusuku, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, dating to the medieval Ryukyu period. It is noted for extensive stone walls and hilltop defensive enclosures.
Visitors can walk the terraced courtyards and remaining walls, follow pathways between multiple gates and enjoy panoramic views over the coastal plain and the Pacific from the castle terraces. The site includes several linked baileys and well-preserved sections of Ryukyuan masonry.
The castle was constructed in the Ryukyu period and is traditionally associated with the lord Gosamaru, who is credited with building or substantially expanding the site in the 15th century. Over time the castle fell into ruin and was later stabilised and conserved as a historic site.
