City in Western, Fiji.
Nadi functions as Fiji’s transport hub: international airport, Sri Siva Subramaniya temple, a lively market and fast-boat access to Denarau, Mamanuca and Yasawa islands; diving charters leave at first light.
Nadi at a Glance#
Fiji’s tourism gateway - a hot, dry-side town on Viti Levu that’s the arrival point for most visitors, and the springboard to the resort islands, beaches and the famous Fijian welcome.
Nadi sits on the drier western coast of Viti Levu, home to Fiji’s main international airport; a bustling small town, it’s the jumping-off point for the Mamanuca and Yasawa island resorts and the Coral Coast.
Why go / don’t miss: the colourful Sri Siva Subramaniya Hindu temple, the Nadi handicraft market, the nearby Sabeto hot springs and mud pools, the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, and - above all - the boats to the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands.
Neighborhoods: the compact town centre for the temple and market; and nearby Denarau Island for resorts and the marina.
Getting around: taxis, local buses and resort transfers; the town is walkable, with the marina nearby for island boats.
When to go: the drier May - Oct is best; it’s warm year-round (Nadi is on the sunny side).
Where to stay: Denarau for resorts, the town for budget, or head straight to the islands.
Dining: Fijian-Indian fare - curries, roti, kokoda, and fresh seafood.
Local tips: most visitors use Nadi as a transit point to the islands (the airport and marina are here); the temple and hot springs fill a layover nicely.
