The Na Tcha Temple is a small Taoist shrine in the Historic Centre of Macao on the Macau Peninsula, built in 1888 and dedicated to the child-god Na Tcha. It is a compact brick-and-stucco temple notable for its bright colors and modest footprint.
A compact courtyard, a single main hall and a few painted statues form the visible features of the temple; the structure occupies only a small plot but is frequently photographed because it sits directly beside the Ruins of St. Paul’s. Typical visits take 10 to 20 minutes and are commonly combined with a walk through the surrounding Historic Centre.
The temple was erected in 1888 by local Chinese residents to venerate the protective figure Na Tcha. Over time it became incorporated into the urban fabric of Macau’s colonial-era centre and was included in the Historic Centre of Macao World Heritage listing.
The temple stands on the Macau Peninsula in Santo António parish, immediately adjacent to the Ruins of St. Paul’s and within the pedestrianized core of Macau’s historic centre.
- Proximity to Ruins of St. Paul's: Located immediately beside the Ruins of St. Paul's, making it easy to visit in the same stop as Macau's most-visited heritage site.
