Mustique

Mustique is a privately owned island in the Grenadines, part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, developed as an exclusive retreat after its purchase in 1958 by Colin Tennant.

The island is known for its private villas, a small boutique hotel, a handful of public beaches and a compact island community with limited shops and services. Key visitor points include a public beach, a small commercial hotel, social venues such as Basil’s Bar and a short-runway airstrip used by charter flights.

Development in the late 1950s and 1960s transformed the island into a low-density private resort favoured by artists, businesspeople and other high-profile visitors; infrastructure has been kept intentionally modest to preserve privacy and landscape.

Mustique lies in the Grenadines chain of the Caribbean and is part of the state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; the nearest national capital is Kingstown on St Vincent.
