Museo Correr is a civic museum on Piazza San Marco in Venice that presents art, historical objects and exhibitions related to Venetian political and cultural history.

Galleries include paintings, decorative arts, maps and civic regalia that trace Venice’s institutional history, along with period rooms and numismatic material. Museum spaces occupy the Napoleonic Wing and parts of the Procuratie overlooking the square.

The museum’s core collection originated in the early 19th century when Teodoro Correr and other collectors’ holdings were bequeathed to the city; over time the civic collections were consolidated and displayed in the central municipal buildings on the piazza.

Museo Correr faces Piazza San Marco in the heart of Venice. It’s a short walk from St. Mark’s Square and from the San Marco-San Zaccaria vaporetto stop (served by main vaporetto lines along the Grand Canal such as lines 1 and 2). From Venezia Santa Lucia railway station expect a 20-30 minute walk across the city or take a vaporetto to San Zaccaria and walk a few minutes.
