The Musée de la Révolution française is a museum dedicated to the history and interpretation of the French Revolution, located in the Château de Vizille near Grenoble. The museum brings together artefacts, paintings, documents, and visual material that examine the causes, events, and consequences of the Revolution.

Exhibits cover political, social, and cultural topics tied to the late 18th century and present collections of prints, paintings, manuscripts, and objects that illustrate Revolutionary-era developments. Temporary exhibitions and educational programs expand on specific themes and regional links to Revolutionary history.

The château provides the museum’s historic setting and is complemented by parkland and a lake that form part of the visitor experience. The museum’s collections are oriented to national and international audiences interested in Revolutionary history.

The museum sits in Vizille, in the Isère department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, a short drive southeast of Grenoble. The château’s park and lake surround the museum building.

• Location and setting: Housed in the Château de Vizille, the museum links its collections to the setting of the château and its parkland.

By train: From Grenoble take the TER service to Vizille (about 20 minutes); the château is a 10-15 minute walk from the station. By car: Take the N85 from Grenoble and follow signs for Vizille; limited parking is available near the château.

• Combine the visit with a walk in the Château de Vizille grounds; the museum sits in the château's 18th-century salle des gardes, which helps explain the theatrical display.
• Go on the museum's guided tour (schedule posted at the desk) to hear the crisp anecdotes about specific deputies and pamphlets that ignited the Revolution.
• Visit on a weekday morning to avoid school groups that descend mid-afternoon.
