How to Get to Murree
Murree is a hill station reached mainly by road from Islamabad or Rawalpindi; Islamabad International Airport (ISB) is the closest major airport. From rail or airport hubs you should expect a mountain road transfer by bus, coach, or taxi.
Islamabad International Airport (ISB): Islamabad is the main airport for reaching Murree. From ISB it’s about 1.5-2 hours by road to Murree depending on traffic; options include private taxi, pre-booked transfer, or shuttle services.
Allama Iqbal International Airport (LHE): Lahore is another airport sometimes used by visitors; the drive from Lahore to Murree is substantially longer (typically 4-5+ hours) and usually done by private car or coach.
Train: There is no direct rail service to Murree; the closest major railheads are in Rawalpindi/Islamabad. From Rawalpindi you must continue by bus or taxi up the mountain road to Murree (road transfer ~1-1.5 hours).
Bus: Public and private buses depart Islamabad/Rawalpindi (e.g., from Saddar, Pir Wadhai, or Daewoo/air-conditioned coach terminals) for Murree regularly; journey time is about 1.5-3 hours depending on departure point and traffic, and fares are usually inexpensive.
