Mount Scenery is a volcanic mountain on the island of Saba in the Caribbean and is the highest point of the island and of the Netherlands at approximately 887 meters above sea level. It is a dormant stratovolcano whose summit area is often shrouded in cloud and mist.
A well-maintained trail runs to the summit through tropical rainforest and montane vegetation and is the island’s principal hiking route; the climb is commonly completed as a day hike and offers views over neighboring Caribbean islands on clear days. The summit area includes basaltic volcanic features and steep slopes.
The volcano formed as part of the Lesser Antilles volcanic arc; its last eruptive activity is not recent in historical terms and the mountain is considered dormant. The mountain and its natural environment are part of Saba’s protected areas and attract nature-focused visitors.
