Mount Rinjani National Park

Mount Rinjani National Park centers on Mount Rinjani, an active stratovolcano on Lombok island whose summit reaches 3,726 metres. The park protects the volcano, its caldera and adjacent ecosystems.

Trekkers and climbers come for multi-day routes that ascend to the crater rim and the caldera lake Segara Anak, with typical itineraries of two to three days for the common routes from Senaru or Sembalun. The park also offers hot springs, waterfalls and diverse montane forest below the crater rim.

Rinjani is a volcanic edifice formed by repeated eruptions; it remains active and has a history of recorded eruptions. Local villages on the volcano’s flanks have long cultural connections to the mountain and the caldera lake.

The park occupies the northern sector of Lombok island in West Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia; access is commonly from the villages of Senaru on the west flank or Sembalun on the east flank.

• Segara Anak (crater lake): A large crater lake within the volcano's summit caldera that is a primary overnight campsite on multi-day treks and a central natural feature of the park.
• Senaru and Sembalun trailheads: Senaru and Sembalun trailheads on the western and eastern flanks respectively provide the main trekking approaches and villages used for permits, guides and supplies.
• Crater rim camps: Pelawangan and the crater rim areas used as high camps and viewpoints for sunrise and crater views during multi-day ascents.
