Mount Marapi

Mount Marapi is an active stratovolcano in West Sumatra, Indonesia, notable for its steep profile and frequent volcanic activity. It is one of the more prominent volcanoes on the island of Sumatra.

The mountain offers alpine hiking routes and steep trails on forested lower slopes; higher slopes are volcanic and can be hazardous during eruptive episodes. Local viewpoints and nearby towns provide the usual starting points for day hikes and longer approaches.
