Mount Longhu (Longhu Shan) is a mountain range and scenic area in Jiangxi province, China, renowned as an early center of Taoism and for its dramatic cliffs and gorges. The landscape combines steep rocky escarpments with wooded valleys and temples.
Visitors encounter multiple Taoist temple complexes, terraces carved into the slopes, and cliffside funerary sites known as hanging coffins. The area has numerous short trails, stairways and viewpoints that showcase the vertical rock formations and deep ravines.
Historically the site is associated with the development of organized Taoist schools and religious practice dating back many centuries; it became an established pilgrimage and monastic area. Mount Longhu sits near the city of Yingtan in northeastern Jiangxi and forms part of the region’s rugged Danxia-style topography.

How to Get to Mount Longhu #
Longhu is accessible from Yingtan city. Trains run to Yingtan, and local buses or taxis connect the city to the Mount Longhu scenic area (the park has established visitor entrances). Many visitors combine a train journey with a short road transfer to the park gates.

- Arrive early to watch the mist curl through the temples and Taoist statues on the mountain.
- Hire a licensed local guide, especially to access the most historically significant Taoist temples and cliffside staircases.
- Be prepared for steep stone steps and switchbacks; the pilgrimage routes are physically demanding even for the fit.
