Mount Diablo

Mount Diablo is a prominent peak in the San Francisco Bay Area located in Contra Costa County, California, with a summit elevation around 1,173 metres (3,849 feet). It sits within Mount Diablo State Park and dominates local skyline views.

The peak has long been a landmark for Indigenous peoples of the region and later for settlers and surveyors; the area around the mountain has been set aside as a state park to conserve its natural and recreational values. Over time roads, trails and park facilities have been added to support public access.

Mount Diablo sits east of the core Bay Area urban corridor in Contra Costa County; the state park spans several thousand hectares of ridgeline and canyon country with access from nearby towns and highways.
