Mount Carmel National Park is a protected area on the Carmel mountain range in northern Israel that conserves Mediterranean forest, scrub and wildlife. It forms a significant green belt near urban centres in the Haifa District.

The park offers a network of walking trails, picnic sites and lookout points across wooded slopes and ridgelines. Visitors come for hiking, wildlife observation and panoramic views toward the coast and surrounding lowlands.

The area has long been recognised for its ecological and cultural value and was set aside under national park protections to conserve its forests and biodiversity while providing managed recreation. Conservation actions have focused on fire prevention and forest restoration.

The park sits on the Carmel range near the city of Haifa in northern Israel, spanning forested hills between the urban coastal plain and inland valleys.

Mount Carmel National Park sits on and around Mount Carmel immediately west of Haifa. The area is also served by regional buses from Haifa (Egged services) to various trailheads and picnic areas - check local Haifa bus timetables for the specific stop closest to the sector of the park you plan to visit.

• Visit early morning or late afternoon for cooler temperatures and clearer views across Haifa and the Mediterranean; mid‑day in summer can be both hot and hazy.
• Check the Israel Nature and Parks Authority website for seasonal closures or fire‑risk restrictions before you go - parts of Mount Carmel close during high-risk periods and access rules can change quickly.
• Use one of the main park entrances near Haifa (signposted from the city) rather than attempting to cross the park on minor roads; the main access points have marked trails and viewpoints for panoramic views.
