Montecristo Trifinio National Park protects cloud forest and montane ecosystems on the Montecristo massif within the Trifinio border region of Central America. The park forms part of the broader transboundary conservation efforts in the Trifinio area, which spans parts of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.
The protected area conserves high-elevation forest, endemic flora and fauna and watershed headwaters for the surrounding region. It lies within the western highlands of Honduras, in the Ocotepeque Department near the tri-border zone.
