Mont Idoukal-n-Taghès is a mountain in the Aïr Massif of northern Niger and is the country’s highest point. The summit rises to the highest elevation in Niger and is a prominent feature within the Aïr highlands.
The peak is a product of the region’s complex geology and forms part of the rocky, eroded highland terrain used historically and currently by Tuareg communities. It has no single construction history but has been a landmark in local geography and travel for centuries.
The mountain sits in the Agadez Region of north-central Niger, within the broader Aïr and Ténéré landscape. Agadez city is the nearest major urban centre used for access to the massif.
