Main image

Mono Cliffs Provincial Park is a provincial park in Ontario protecting a stretch of the Niagara Escarpment known for its exposed cliffs and mixed hardwood forest. The park is notable for its sandstone cliffs and escarpment topography.

A compact network of marked hiking trails and boardwalks leads to cliff-edge viewpoints, forested valleys and small wetlands; typical route lengths are from under 1 km up to multi-kilometre loops. The terrain is a mix of steep escarpment slopes and gentler upland forest, making it popular for day hikes and nature observation.

The area was set aside to protect a section of the Niagara Escarpment landscape and its natural features; management has focused on trail routing and habitat protection. Over time recreational infrastructure such as boardwalks and interpretive signage has been added to reduce visitor impact.

The park sits in Dufferin County near the community of Mono and east of the town of Orangeville in southern Ontario, occupying escarpment terrain with forested hills and small ravines.

  • Trails and lookouts: Trails include a mix of easy and moderate routes with boardwalk sections over sensitive ground; several short lookouts provide views of cliffs and valleys.
