How to Get to Mityana
Mityana is best reached via Entebbe International Airport (EBB) with onward surface travel through Kampala. There is no direct intercity rail service to Mityana; most visitors travel by bus or shared minibus from Kampala. Local taxis and boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis) are used for the final miles within town.
Entebbe International Airport (EBB): Entebbe is the main international gateway for central Uganda. From EBB you can take an airport taxi direct to Mityana (via Kampala) - expect about 1.5-2 hours driving depending on traffic; typical taxi fares range roughly UGX 120,000-200,000. Shared airport shuttle or bus into Kampala city centre (20-45 minutes, around UGX 10,000-20,000) followed by a matatu/minibus from Kampala to Mityana (see By Train & Bus card) will usually be the cheapest option.
Train: Uganda has very limited passenger rail services on routes that are not convenient for Mityana travel; there is no regular passenger service that serves Mityana directly. Travel by rail is not a practical option for most visitors to Mityana.
Bus / Minibus (Matatu): Regular minibuses and stage taxis run from Kampala to Mityana from several parks on the west side of Kampala (look for services labelled “Mityana / Mubende”). The trip from Kampala typically takes 1.5-2.5 hours depending on traffic; fares are commonly in the range UGX 5,000-20,000 per person.
How to Get Around Mityana #
Mityana is a compact market town and largely walkable around the central area. For longer trips use boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis) and shared minibuses to Kampala; fares are inexpensive by local standards-confirm price before boarding.
