The Miraflores Locks Visitors Center on the Panama Canal overlooks the Pacific-side chambers, with tiered viewing platforms, explanatory exhibits and live views of ships transiting the locks.
The Miraflores Locks Visitors Center is the public observation and interpretation facility adjacent to the Miraflores Locks on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. It provides panoramic views of ships transiting one of the canal’s lock complexes.
Multiple observation terraces and viewing platforms allow visitors to watch vessels enter and exit the Miraflores Locks and to see lock operations at close range. The center also houses interpretive exhibits and a short film that explains how the canal and its locks operate.
The Miraflores Locks were constructed as part of the Panama Canal project completed in the early 20th century; the visitors center was established later to provide public access and interpretation of canal operations. The site has been used to educate visitors about the canal’s engineering and history.
Sited on the Pacific side of the Panama Canal within the Panama City metropolitan area, the center sits adjacent to the Miraflores lock complex and provides direct views across the navigational channels and Miraflores Lake.

How to Get to Miraflores Locks Visitors Center #
The Miraflores Locks Visitors Center is about 8-10 km from Panama City’s downtown (Cinta Costera area). From the city center, take a taxi or bus toward Amador Causeway or Calle 26/Transístmica; signs from the Avenida de los Poetas/Calzada de Amador route will direct to the visitor center. There is on-site parking for private vehicles.
