How to Get to Minatitlán, Veracruz
Minatitlán is served by a small regional airport (MTT) and well connected by road bus services to Veracruz and Coatzacoalcos. For most visitors the easiest approach is to fly into MTT if available or travel by ADO/regional bus from Veracruz or Coatzacoalcos.
Minatitlán/Coatzacoalcos National Airport (MTT): Minatitlán has a small regional airport (IATA: MTT) with limited scheduled flights. The airport is about 10-20 minutes from downtown Minatitlán; taxis cost roughly MXN 80-150 and the ride takes around 10-20 minutes.
General Heriberto Jara International Airport (Veracruz) (VER): Veracruz (VER) is the nearest larger airport with many domestic flights. From Veracruz city to Minatitlán it’s about a 2-3 hour drive; regular intercity buses run between Veracruz and Minatitlán (see Bus paragraph) and private transfers/taxis are available but more expensive (expect several hundred to a few thousand MXN for private hires depending on vehicle).
Train: There is no regular passenger rail service serving Minatitlán; the rail infrastructure in the region is primarily freight. Travelers rely on road transport for intercity travel.
Bus: Long-distance buses are the primary way to reach Minatitlán. ADO and regional operators run frequent services from Veracruz, Coatzacoalcos and other Gulf cities; fares typically range MXN 100-300 depending on distance and class, and travel times are 1-3 hours from nearby cities (Coatzacoalcos ~30-45 minutes, Veracruz ~2-3 hours).
