Middle Andaman Island is the central island of the Andaman archipelago in the Bay of Bengal, part of India’s Andaman and Nicobar Islands territory. It is an inhabited island with towns, forests and coastal beaches.

How to Get to Middle Andaman Island #
Middle Andaman Island is reached from Port Blair in the Andaman Islands. Passengers travel by scheduled government/passenger ferries (departure points in Port Blair such as Phoenix Bay/Haddo jetties) to Rangat or Mayabunder on Middle Andaman - ferry crossings take several hours and schedules vary, so check the current timetable in Port Blair.
Once you land at Rangat or Mayabunder the island’s interior is served by local roads; taxis and local buses or hired vehicles connect the ferry terminal with towns and beaches on Middle Andaman.
Tips for Visiting Middle Andaman Island #
- Visit during the dry season (roughly November-April) when sea conditions are most reliable for ferries and island travel and daytime weather is friendlier for exploring.
- Reach Middle Andaman via scheduled government passenger ferries from Port Blair to Rangat or Mayabunder and plan schedules ahead-interisland services are limited and can be irregular.
- Hire a local guide or boat for remote beaches and nature spots; much of the island's best coastline and wildlife viewing is outside the small towns and easier to access with local knowledge.
