How to Get to Medjugorje

Medjugorje is best reached by flying into regional airports (Mostar, Dubrovnik or Split) and completing the journey by bus or taxi. Most visitors use Mostar Airport for the shortest transfer or Dubrovnik/Split for more flight options and then continue overland.

By Air

Mostar Airport (OMO): Mostar is the closest airport to Medjugorje (about 25-30 km). From Mostar Airport you can take a taxi to Medjugorje (≈30-40 minutes, roughly €25-40) or pre-book a shared transfer/shuttle (similar price or slightly cheaper per person in groups).

Dubrovnik Airport (DBV): Dubrovnik is a common international entry point for pilgrims. Buses run from Dubrovnik Bus Station to Mostar (operators and seasonal coaches), taking about 2-3 hours and costing roughly €10-20; from Mostar you can transfer to a local bus or taxi to Medjugorje (another 30-40 minutes). Split (SPU) and Sarajevo (SJJ) are other options with longer overland transfers (2.5-4 hours).

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no direct long‑distance rail service to Medjugorje. The nearest main rail hub is Mostar Railway Station (Mostar), which connects to regional Bosnian lines. From Mostar station a local bus or taxi takes about 30-40 minutes to Medjugorje (taxi ~€20-30).

Bus: Buses are the best rail-free option: Mostar Bus Station runs regular local buses/minibuses to Medjugorje (approx. 30-45 minutes, a few euros). Intercity buses connect Dubrovnik, Split and Sarajevo with Mostar (2-4 hours, €8-25 depending on route); many operators run seasonal direct coaches to Medjugorje during pilgrimage periods-check timetables in advance.

How to Get Around Medjugorje #
